Mondays HOT Topic (1)

I decided since I am going to start planning my second baby birth experience (that I hope goes the way I want this time) that I would talk about a topic that I feel is either a part of my pregnancy, birth, nursing, etc.

Some ideas I have are:

-Bradley Method
-VBAC(vaginal birth after csection)
-Nursing while pregnant
-Supplements I take for a healthy pregnancy and baby(Tynlee)
-Brewers' Diet (for high blood pressure)

Todays HOT Topic: Nursing while pregnant
We knew from the start, we wanted our children close. And after it took us almost 2 years to get pregnant and STAY pregnant with Tynlee, we weren't sure we would get our children close. But boy we were wrong! The first month we tried, a baby was in the making :) and Praise God for that!!! Having a baby must have made us fertile myrtles!!! And that's a GREAT thing! I had(have) intentions of nursing Tynlee for AT LEAST a year and hopefully longer if she wants just because I know nursing is the best thing I can do for her health and immune system. I was really nervous when I got pregnant cause I thought my milk would dry up, nipples(TMI!!) might be too sore, or she wouldn't be interested cause I heard the increase in MORE hormones(even though my body is already on overdrive with them while nursing) that it could change the taste and baby might reject. Well Tynlee is STILL nursing! Thank the Lord! I was so nervous going through cold and flu season not being able to nurse her. I am taking supplements to support her and my immune system that I know she could use through my milk. I am so thankful she is still nursing just as much as before. I hope to nurse her till she is at least 1 and then maybe until the baby comes as well which is in June. I know now I have to be eating super healthy. I was doing good actually while breast feeding cause everything I ate went to her, but now, I have doubled my protein and fluid intake so that I can be sure my body is staying healthy and strong cause it's worker VERY hard to grow our new baby, feed Tynlee and continue to help my body function. Basically, I am a huge HORMONE right now. But I think I am handling it pretty well and I am so blessed to be able to nurse while pregnant. I hope it stays this way!!!!

Another week....Another change!

So I am happy to say, Tynlee slept in her crib last night for the first time. Yes, I know, she's 8 months old, but I just wasn't ready yet. She was sleeping in her play pen in our room. I was ready and so was she to be in seperate rooms. Don't get me wrong, I slept terrible but it's great that I can see into her room directly and for those of you who know my house, it's VERY small and bedrooms are literally 3ft. away. BUT, I wasn't ready. So there :)

It went pretty well. She cried herself to sleep after almost 3 hours. I kept going in and putting her paci back in and her blanky, reassuring her that I was there and it was bedtime. I hope tonight is better. Her naps today have been in her crib and again, she cried herself to sleep for her 1st nap for about an hour. And right now, she's working on her 2nd nap.

Also, she is pulling herself up on everything. We have had so many boo boo's since she's started moving. And I thought she wasn't a "risk taker" but boy, was I wrong?? She falls and gets right back up.

She's strong willed. As you can tell, crying herself to sleep for hours. She was full bellied. I made sure and gave her spinach and potatoes mixed with rice for dinner then a full belly of breast milk. She had a nice relaxing warm bath. book and prayers. Please don't think I'm a bad mom for letting her cry. IT WAS THE HARDEST THING I EVER HAD TO DO. I was in tears, literally. But it's what had to be done.

She has always nursed to sleep...and it was getting to the point recently where she would wake up 5-8 times in the middle of the night, nurse for 2 minutes, then go back to sleep. We both weren't sleeping good. This "cry it out" is our only other option.

She is a trooper though and I am proud of her for doing so well her first night. She woke up 3 times. and I only rocked her ONCE. Yes, I shouldn't have. But I felt bad and I was exhausted.

So yeah, today I'm tired. But I know this will only be a few nights of torture and our whole house will be sleeping ALL night, I hope ;)

Oh and we had her 8 month pictures taken yesterday at the pumpkin patch! They turned out ADORABLE!! Can't wait to get them! She was a happy, smiley girl who LOVED the hay!

Here are some adorable pictures of her this week so far!

Tynlee's 1st time getting her toe nails girly :)

8 Months Old

Only 4 months away from a year!!!!
And no, I haven't started her party planning yet :)

These have been the best 8 months of my life, adapting to motherhood. I never knew I could have SO much love. My heart overflows!

Tynlee is pure joy. Two weeks ago, she got her first tooth. My mother in-law found it during church and I about cried. I wasn't expecting it. But it explains the bad naps and hard nights we were having. I am by no means complaining. I know those teeth coming in have got to hurt. So glad we don't remember :)

She has quite the personality. When you take something away from her, she gets pretty upset and gives you the "puppy dog" lip that I can't resist.

She says "Mamaaaaaaaa" whens he cries ;) I love it!!!
Still not sleeping through the night.
She eats veggies once a day, usually in the evening before bath.
She also loves puffs, all flavors.
She sits up all the time by herself.
She loves to crawl, and take a break sitting down. It's so CUTE!
She loves to play on floor, crawling everywhere! She loves to tap her hands on the hard wood, it's adorable!
She likes being in her jumperoo!! And could bounce for HOURS!

She crawls over our legs and it pulling herself up on you.
She is definitely not afraid, she has fallen several times and gets up and tries again.
She loves to sing herself to sleep, which melts my heart!!!
Her blonde hair is growing. She wakes up with some bedhead :)

Everyday she changes...everyday she grows...
We love her more than words can describe and we are SO blessed God gave us her!

She is 26 inches and 18 lbs :)

Taking a "natural" approach

Being a mommy now, I think about things I never in my life thought vaccinations(which I am not against all, by the way). I have gotten Tynlee most of her vaccinations just spread them out, where she only gets one shot per visit and at least a month apart. I think God gave us medicine and for the most part, it's a good thing. But I know for a fact, doctors HAVE to tell us to get them. They can be liable. And they definitely get paid more for each vaccination.

(from ABC news)

My husband or I have never had the flu shot in our lives, by the way.
Don't get me wrong, the flu scares me, and I definitely don't want my baby getting it but from what I've read, the shot isn't a risk I want to take being that it's not that effective and most people who get the shot, get sick anyways.

True facts:
FLU SHOT does not protect against the stomach flu being as the stomach flu is not really a flu but a virus.
The flu shot 70%-90% effective(remember, only if they GUESSED right!)
You can still get the flu even if you get the vaccine.
It only protects you from 3 strains of the influenza and that's ONLY if they have the correct strains in the vaccine, which they completely guess that.
This flu shot is the same shot as last years.
20,000 people don't die a year of the flu in the US, it's only about 1,000 and 900 of those are the elderly.
If you get the flu shot 8 or more times in the last 10 years, you have an 80% chance of getting Alzheimers.

As a mommy, I feel it is our duty to protect our child. We shouldn't fully put our trust in these doctors. Yes, they went to school for years and we didn't. But they are required by the government to require recommend the flu shot. I feel, we should do more than just trust our doctors.
Research things for ourselves, PROS and CONS of BOTH sides.
If you don't, I am sorry but I think you should. If toxic chemicals are going into our babies, we should become educated, especially in the flu shot, the mercury is flat out scary. Learning the side effects and if it's a risk we want to take.

This post isn't about all vaccines. It's about the flu shot.

The H1N1 vaccine is SO new. I mean, it hasn't even been out long enough to have been studied or long enough to see it's full effects on us let alone our healthy children.

My family of three is taking an approach I feel MUCH more comfortable with.

Clinical trials on patients displaying full-blown flu symptoms took place in Israel in the middle of a flu epidemic in 1992-93. Half were given the Sambucol black elderberry extract and half a placebo. Within 48 hours 75% of patients who had been given Sambucol had clearly improved and within 72 hours 90% were symptom-free. Only 16% of patients on placebos had shown any improvement after two days, and the rest took at least six days to recover.
Protects you from 8 strains of flu!! That's 5 more than the shot!
I bought it from the health food store. Stephen and I take 2 teaspoons daily. and Tynlee gets it through my milk. If we did end up sick, we would take more Elderberry. but for healthy people, its just 2 tsps a day.
Safe while pregnant and breastfeeding too!!
Very good for immune system, digestion, urinary tract, heart, etc.
I got in the refrigerated section at health store, kinda pricey, but I will take a pill a day. I got the kind good for woman only. It's great for overall health.
I got Tynlee Vitamin D drops as well as her own probiotics for babies to sprinkle a little each day on her baby food.
I feel confident in my decision to take the natural approach. I'm not saying we won't get the flu. But I feel this is the best decision for our family. And being as I've researched it all and pros & cons, I am confident in my decision.
I encourage all mommy's to GET EDUCATED in what goes into our babies' bodies!

Weekend Update

We had a wonderful weekend ALL together as a family!

Saturday we woke up "early" to watch the Michigan vs. Michigan State game...We LOST. :(
Tynlee and I left to go to my friend Madison's baby shower!!
She is due to have little Tate in November!!

In the afternoon, we went to Resendez Fruit Barn, they have lots of things to do during Harvest. It was PACKED! So we didn't get to take any pictures in the pumpkins! but they have a hay maze, pony rides, a huge fish pond, petting zoo, and lots of yummy fruits, veggies and snacks! It was super hot so we didn't stay long! But it's only 4 miles away from our house so we will definitely be going back!!!

Saturday night was spent over at a member of the Oakdale church's home in Riverbank, right on the river. Beautiful home! And GREAT fellowship with lots of young families! We were invited by a new friend, Melissa, who has a little boy Bode, who is 4 days younger than Tynlee! He is already walking around the coffee table!! Wow!! :) He is so cute!!! We really enjoyed our wonderful dinner, roasting marshmallows, and chatting! The Oakdale church is VERY dear to our heart!

Sunday was a great day in the Lord's house, even though we missed my inlaws being down south, we had great services! After church, honey took me to Johnny Carinos(my favorite!!) We hadn't been there in forever! We came home and napped then went back for evening services. After church, we were able to go spend time with my parents, mom had to leave for work(night post partum nurse) but we stayed and visited with dad, ate some veggie soup and watched UFC.

Oh and by the way, TYNLEE HAS HER FIRST TOOTH!!!
My mother in law found it last week during church, and I about cried!!! You can see the white and (definitely) feel it...she isn't a "biter" while nursing at least not yet, so that's good!!!!

It was a wonderful weekend!! :)

On the move......officially!!!

My little Tynlee is officially crawling, on all fours. And definitely ALL over the place! She is fast! Just last week she wasn't yet completely crawling now there's no stopping her! I can't believe how big she's getting. She loves to crawl and she sits up from the crawl position! I can't believe it! Even a week ago she wasn't sitting up and now, she seems like a pro!!

I love her way a lot!!!! I truly find more joy in being her mama than anything else!

On Monday I took Tynlee to the Dutch Hollow pumpkin patch! We went with my parents, payslie, felicity, my sister and her boys and my sister in law and her boys. The kids had a lot of fun! My sweet dad bought every kid a pumpkin! So sweet! We had a great time and I think Tynlee enjoyed it too, she was her smiley self! Such a happy girl!!

She's the best thing to wake up to! Like this morning, Stephen puts her in bed with me when he leaves for work in the AM, so about 9am she woke up and I heard tapping on a keyboard, I open my eyes to her laying above my head just going to town tapping on the keyboard since the comp is right next to our bed! She was just laughing away! Made my day!!! She brings me the most joy!

We decided to get her a keyboard for Christmas now lol

Every 24 Seconds

A poor innocent baby is being aborted....

EVERY baby is a blessing!
Yesterday I posted on FB, what I didn't think was going to be controversial since I thought all my friends were Christians, church people, or at least had the same view on abortion murder as me. It turned out different. I had a girl on there for questioned my view. I made it clear to her that in no way shape or form do I ever think abortion murder is an option! No matter the circumstance or situation. The baby can ALWAYS be given up for an adoption to a family who really wants a child. Why are you punishing the poor child for something you did? She brought up in rape cases next. Well, only 1% of the time, do rape victims actually conceive a child, and even so, you(the rape victim) who is a victim, can be turned into a murderer from having an abortion. As hard as it would be to carry that sweet baby, it's right. The baby deserves life. We didn't even give it life, Christ did, so why should we be able to take it away. I understand the bible says "Thou shall NOT murder", but it also talks about hating your brother is the same as murder, which we know we probably have all "highly disliked" someone in our life. So it's not even about the murder, it's the good ol' saying, WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? He loves little children. He would never ever want a baby aborted.
I saw Tynlee's heartbeat at 6 weeks old, it amazes me that someone could be SO SELFISH, that they would ever think they should take somoene else's life. To me, it's the same as murderering an innocent person walking down the street. Why are there so many commercials about saving abused animals(which is totally sad by the way)?? They should be focusing on saving BABIES lives. HUMAN lives. And enough about saving the trees, don't even get me started. It's just the world we live in. It saddens me terribly. There are people out there who can't have children and would LOVE that baby, but yet, woman are so soon to throw it away because they are LAZY and SELFISH. That may sound me, but abortion is flat out selfish.

Abortion facts:

-From 1973 through 2005, more than 45 million legal abortions have occurred in the U.S.-At 7 weeks, the babies nerves begin to work...that means the baby can feel every thing during an abortion
-At 9 weeks, more than 90% of the body structures found in a full-grown human are present
-Nearly half of pregnancies among American women are unintended; about 4 in 10 of these are terminated by abortion. Twenty-two percent of all U.S. pregnancies end in abortion.
-In 2007, 84% of all abortions were performed on unmarried women
-Women between the ages of 20-24 obtained 33% of all abortions; women between 25-29 obtained 24%
-50% of U.S. women obtaining abortions are younger than 25; women aged 20-24 obtain 33% of all U.S. abortions and teenagers obtain 17%
-47% of women who have abortions had at least one previous abortion
-Black women are more than 4.8 times more likely than non-Hispanic white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are 2.7 times as likely
-37% of women obtaining abortions identify themselves as Protestant, and 28% identify themselves as Catholic
-At current rates, nearly one-third of American women will have an abortion
-On average, women give at least 3 reasons for choosing abortion: 3/4 say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities; about 3/4 say they cannot afford a child; and 1/2 say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner
-88-92% of all abortions happen during the first trimester, prior to the 13th week of gestation
-In 2007, 6 women died as a result of complications from known legal induced abortion
-In 2009, the average cost of a nonhospital abortion with local anesthesia at 10 weeks of gestation was $451
-40% of minors having an abortion report that neither of their parents knew about the abortion
-126,000 babies are aborted every day

Percentage of abortions due to "hard cases":
Rape: 0.3%
Incest: 0.03%
Protection of mother’s life: 0.2%

That just goes to show that most abortions are done because the mother just doesn't want the child or to be pregnant for that matter..

Makes me sick to my stomach.

A Day Spent At Home!

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted! We have been so busy!! There are lots of wonderful things to update you with!

Love this cuddly and cool weather by the way!!!!

First, Tynlee is officially on the move!! She can "crawl" pretty fast now and definitely likes to explore everything! She loves to crawl to the coffee table and try to get inside of it! I really have to pay close attention because she is fast! When I hold her while we are eating, she will try to grab by fork or even my food off the plate! My favorite is when I take a drink and she opens her mouth like she's going to get one too! I love it! :) She also can sit up real good now. She definitely still falls over but she does really good with it! She has grown up so much the past 2 weeks since we've been home from Disneyland! She does so much "big girl" stuff now. She still LOVES her veggies in the evening!

We also got wonderful news! We got our offer accepted in the town we've always LOVED, Oakdale! It's a small, adorable town that we can't wait to be a part of!! It's 4 bedroom, so plenty of room more more ;)
We are very excited the Lord opened this door and we hope to be in it by Thanksgiving!

This past weekend, Stephen preached at the Oakdale church, where our new home is actually :) We had the best time visiting and getting to know the brethren there. I have to say, my husband did a great job with the preaching! We really hope they have us back! We really loved that church.

Life is good and GOD IS GOOD!!! We are happy about starting the new week!! Yard sale this weekend! Woo hoo! :)
